A large US based Managed Service Provider (MSP) recently selected Precision Bridge to implement the on-boarding of one of their new accounts.

The requirement was to migrate the account from another MSP running on a separate ServiceNow instance. Both the source and target instances were configured using domain separation.

Precision Bridge was chosen to automate and accelerate this migration by taking advantage of a range of pre-built ServiceNow migration templates and the ability to preserve data integrity across the two instances including domain separation configuration. One of the key benefits identified was the ability to segment and isolate all records relating to the specified account which had been selected for migration.

In particular, Precision Bridge will be used to support the migration of all case records including customisations, case attachments, journal entries and all related table data from the customer service application for the specified account.

The project was completed in less than 3 months, representing a significant cost and time-saving over any manually driven alternative since there was no need for any data exports, manual formatting, importing or development required to support the migration.

A multinational power company recently selected Precision Bridge to support their migration project from BMC Remedy to ServiceNow.

The project involves the migration of active incident, problem, change and request records from their legacy Remedy application to the corresponding tables in ServiceNow.   The selection of Precision Bridge was based on the product’s ability to maintain data integrity across record relationships, migration of record attachments and work-logs without the need for any data exports, formatting or additional development.

Precision Bridge is expected to accelerate the migration by providing a pre-defined suite of migration templates for each of the key application areas.  These include mappings from the legacy tables to the ServiceNow tables which can be refined to meet specific migration requirements such as custom fields or customer specific data-transformation requirements.

Mark Herring, co-founder of Precision Bridge commented: “This adds to the long list of customers that are taking advantage of our software to accelerate their migration to the ServiceNow platform. In the past data migration was often regarded as too complex, time consuming and expensive. Precision Bridge fundamentally changes the proposition to make migrations simple to configure, quick to implement and cost-effective”.

June 2021: Global Systems Integrator selects Precision Bridge for strategic migration project

GSI Image.jpeg

A global systems integrator recently selected Precision Bridge to facilitate a strategic migration project spanning the migration of systems across EMEA, the US and APAC.

The project involves the migration of ITSM application data from a large number of legacy HP Service Manager (HPSM) applications to the ServiceNow equivalent. Many of the HPSM applications are configured as multi-tenant systems with multiple accounts sharing the same infrastructure. The requirement was to migrate the account data to ServiceNow whilst maintaining data integrity.

Using a traditional manual approach to export, transform and load the data was not a viable option as the effort required would have been excessive and unreliable. Precision Bridge was chosen due to its pre-built HPSM adaptor which facilitates a direct connection between the source HPSM platform and the ServiceNow target instance, supplemented by a suite of pre-built migration templates. These will accelerate the migration by providing a pre-defined set of data-mappings which can be re-used across multiple HPSM->ServiceNow migration projects.

Mark Herring, Co-Founder of Precision Bridge commented: “I am delighted that this global systems integrator have selected Precision Bridge. This will be a flagship project for us which represents yet another endorsement of the technology which has helped so many customers retain their critical data as they migrate to the ServiceNow platform. I look forward to working with our newest customer to see this project through to a successful conclusion.”

May 2021: US Semi-Conductor Manufacturer completes migration to ServiceNow 2 weeks ahead of schedule

A US semi-conductor manufacturer and global leader in materials engineering recently completed their migration to ServiceNow 2 weeks ahead of schedule using Precision Bridge.

The company had a number of heavily customised Remedy ITSM applications that they needed to migrate to the equivalent apps in ServiceNow. When attempting a previous manual migration, they soon realised that this approach was too slow and cumbersome and that they needed a tool-based alternative.

Precision Bridge was selected in January 2021 to assist in the migration process. This required some complex mappings of custom Remedy forms to ServiceNow tables and some significant transformations and filtering to clean-up the data as part of the migration. Despite this, the migration was completed and fully tested in less than 3 months, actually 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

The tool is now being considered for future migration projects, in particular ServiceNow instance consolidation and archiving.

April 2021: Precision Bridge announces release of HPSM->ServiceNow Adaptor

Precision Bridge today announced the full release of its HPSM->ServiceNow adaptor following increased demand from customers and partners. This adaptor accelerates the migration of application data from both on premise and cloud-based HPSM installations to ServiceNow without the need for lengthy export/import processes, spreadsheets or development of any kind. It works by connecting directly to the HPSM and ServiceNow environments through the API and exposing the underlying data-structures to a user-friendly, configurable mapping interface.

The adaptor comes with a selection of pre-built migration templates to support OOTB migration of ITSM application data including users, groups, companies, locations, incidents, problems and change requests.

In line with previous adaptors, the Precision Bridge HPSM adaptor exposes all customisations within HPSM thereby allowing both customised applications and custom applications to be migrated to ServiceNow without loss of critical data.

Full support for data transformations including string, date-time and arithmetic conversion functions are supplemented by the use of temporary variables to handle complex multi-step conversions where necessary.

All Precision Bridge migration projects can be saved, copied and re-used across multiple environments without the need for re-development.

March 2021: Global leader in the design and manufacturing of automotive products selects Precision Bridge

Assembly Line.jpeg

A global leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of automative products recently selected Precision Bridge to address their migration requirements.

In particular, there was an urgent requirement to consolidate two ServiceNow instances into one. One of the instances was originally cloned from the other but they had diverged from that point as they were used by different business groups. Merging them back into one required careful consolidation of the ITSM applications which had been used on both.

Precision Bridge was chosen due to its pre-built set of ITSM migration templates and its flexibility in managing the merging of data across two platforms without the need for exporting and re-loading the data. Options for defining primary keys, offsetting and/or changing the prefix for transaction records and powerful selection criteria to control record selection were all benefits that Precision Bridge was able to bring to the table.

March 2021: US Semi-Conductor Manufacturer selects Precision Bridge

semi-conductor image.jpg

A US semi-conductor manufacturer and global leader in materials engineering recently selected Precision Bridge to address their data migration requirements.

In particular, the customer had a number of legacy BMC Remedy applications that they needed to migrate to ServiceNow. Some of these applications were custom built and others where based on OOTB ITSM applications. They needed a tool with the flexibility to extract data from each application, format and deliver to the required ServiceNow environment in a reliable and repeatable fashion.

Following an initial trial period, Precision Bridge was selected because it clearly demonstrated an ability to address these requirements and using a purely manual approach had been deemed too slow and prone to human error.

Following delivery of product training to some key personnel, Precision Bridge will be utilised over the next couple of months to complete the transition to ServiceNow’s Case and Knowledge applications enabling users to access all ITSM data from a single vendor platform.

Feb 2021: Multinational Systems Integrator selects Precision Bridge

A multinational systems integrator recently selected Precision Bridge to accelerate the migration from their customer’s legacy ITSM application to ServiceNow.

With a tight deadline to work to and a significant volume of data to migrate from a diverse set of application tables, using a purely manual extraction and delivery approach would not have worked.

Precision Bridge was an obvious choice due to the existing adaptor to connect ServiceNow to the legacy platform and the suite of pre-built migration templates that can be used to support the migration of foundation data, transaction data as well as service request process flows and related definitions.

This project is yet another example of how Precision Bridge can de-risk, automate and accelerate the migration to the ServiceNow platform without the usual issues related to maintaining data integrity across different ITSM vendor platforms.
